Her Junior World Pairs Skating Championships well behind her, stunningly beautiful Nancy Juliet Degas settled into a steady but unexciting career with the Bestchester Bank. Nancy's cousin, Estella Degas, and friend Bethany Underfoot persuaded her to become a ballerina with the newly-formed experimental Knottwood Ballet Company. Nancy was rehearsing with Knottwood Ballet and still working part-time at the bank when she met and married head park ranger Buddy Jim Hanbro.

Nancy had great success in a variety of roles, including Pink, The Shadow King and daring modern dance The Wraith before giving up her career for motherhood. She recently returned to pro skating with former partner Lars Lindquist, but still finds time to act as foster mother to Colin Eight, whose tragic story has touched the hearts of all of Knottwood.
