A nd then it was time for this year's SPECIAL ENTERTAINMENT - which (with all that ice) just had to be figure skating, of course. The Knottwooders were treated to a dazzling display of Pairs Skating offered up by reigning World Champions LORELEI DRIZZELL and BRENT MICHAEL SCHUMACHER... |
Organizer Peter Linsell innocently had NO idea how narrowly Drizzell and Schumacher had beaten Knottwood's own Lars Lindquist and Nancy Hanbro at Worlds, the previous March... But while the Knottwooders generously acknowledged that the dazzling Canadian pair were almost as good as Lindquist and Hanbro... |
...all the children agreed the BEST part of their routine was a SPECTACULAR FALL... ...which Isobel P. Hanbro actually didn't cause... The sympathetic gasps of the adults fortunately drowned out the heartless GIGGLES of the children... |
...And they DID receive a GENEROUS ROUND OF APPLAUSE... And THEN it was time for... |
...Lindquist and HANBRO... |
...Skating as POCAHONTAS and Captain John Smith... |
...to a stirring JOSH GROBAN medley... Lars sweeps Nancy UP... |
...into one of their trademark spectacular LIFTS... ...And everyone AGREES... |
...that they really are superbly graceful, as well as athletic... ...As the GASPS from their audience attest! |
ISOBEL puts it BEST... |
(But what of poor, POOR BETHANY UNDERFOOT?) |
